    I’m thinking that with a plugin like Post Types Order, it might be an easy workflow to maintain one category and allow the one category to “wrap” to the next columns where the previous column left off. Right now, if you use the same category on each column, you get an exact copy of the posts in each instance. Using Post Types Order, you could topically sort your posts and not have to worry about categorizing, which can be time consuming. You would set your first instance for 5 posts, then you could toss in an Ad, then have another 10 posts, then continue on the next column with the next 10 posts from the same category, then another ad, etc…

    You can actually already do that using the “Offset” setting in the Posted Link widget:

    Just offset the next group of links by the combined number showing in the previous widgets
